Tham Jang Cave
If you like caves, Tham Jang would be highly recommended as one of the unmissable holiday destinations upon arrival at Vang Vieng.
Situated on the right bank of the Nam Song River, 2km from town, this beautiful cave was used as a refuge in the early 19th century in defense against Chinese incursions. This is why Jang in laotian means "strong".
Outside the cave there is a steep staircase, allowing you to enjoy a panoramic view of the pretty local countryside and rice fields. In addition, you could swim in a small pool near the entrance, then make a good picnic or reading on a grassy ground.
Before entering the cave, it is necessary to cross a bridge on Nam Song river and then a long staircase on the left. Inside, a blue stream located about 49 meters away, which offers perfect conditions for tourists to dive and make cave expeditions. Going deeper, you will see plenty of multiform stalactites and a sanctuary for the pilgrims to pray and express their respect towards Buddha.
The Tham Jang cave is open between 8 am and 5 pm every day with the entrance price of 15,000 kips per person. It's so easy to get there by tuk tuk or by car from Vang Vieng town.
