Vientiane - Luang Prabang Stop-over

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before exploring the highlights of Vientiane capital - the Moon Gate of the Million Elephants Land.

Your city tour begins with a visit to the magnificent Vat Si Saket temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in the heart of the capital. Built in the Thai style, the temple’s sanctuary is surrounded by a typical cloister with beautifully carved doors. In its inner facade, there is a gallery of nearly 7,000 Buddha statues of different sizes and shapes.

You will then pass through the Emerald Buddha temple - Haw Phra Kaew. What makes this worship special is that there is no monk living there. Flanking the steps at the entrance is two stone guardian dragons, and it has a nice landscaped garden.

Before saying goodbye to Vientiane, just visit the Supreme Stupa of Pha That Luang, one of the 10 most famous and important Buddhist temples in the world. As Pha That Luang is the national symbol, its image is printed on paper money as well as on the national emblem of the country.

Then depart for Wattay International Airport, to continue your journey in Luang Prabang. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by the local driver and your Lao guide who will take you to the hotel for check-in.

After breakfast at the hotel, join the pier located behind the Royal Palace for a cruise on the Mekong River to the Pak Ou Sanctuary Caves, which were formed thousands of years ago and in recent times have attracted Buddhist pilgrims, who have decorated the caves with thousands of Buddhist statues and paraphernalia, over 4000 at last count. On the way, just contemplate the beautiful scenery on two shores of the Mekong River and stop in the villages of Ban Xang Khong, where the guide will provide you with information about silk and Sa paper production process.

In the afternoon, you take to the road (about 30km), to discover Kuang Si, the most beautiful waterfalls of Luang Prabang, where the water is turquoise all year round. At the bottom of the falls, a series of natural pools invites you to swim. In addition, you can take a walk in the forest or continue to climb to the top of the falls.

On the way back to the city center, you can observe daily life in a few ethnic minority villages of Laos like the Hmong village (in Ban Ouay), the Laoloum village (in Ban Ou), and the Khmu village (in Ban Thapene).
